Crochet Clothing Patches

Give new life to our old clothes by mending holes and tears with these crochet clothing patches! Made from cotton manufactured in Australia and crocheted by me, these patches are available in a range of sizes and colours. These patches are stretchy (perfect for holes over the knee or elbow), soft on the skin and can be machine washed and dried without shrinkage.

Patch sizes
Small: 6cm x 6cm
Medium: 8cm x 9cm
Large: 8cm x 14cm

I can custom make a patch to suit any sized hole, so get in touch if you'd like something different.

Choosing the right size
Measure the space around the hole or tear you want to patch - the patch should cover the hole/tear with about 1cm extra around the sides for stitching.

Sewing instructions
Never mended clothing before? It's really easy! All you need is a needle and thread, although an embroidery hoop is recommended to hold the patch in place and keep the fabric tight while you sew. You can sew the patch in however you like, there are no rules. I tend to use dolphin stitch (simple up, down, up, down) or make little 'X's' around the outside of the hole and dolphin stitch again around that, as pictured below.
I recommend buying some 'wash away quilters tape' which is a double sided tape you can purchase from Spotlight or similar fabric store. It holds the patch in place while you sew and washes away afterwards.
